How it Works
Sculptra is administered in a series of treatment sessions. Each treatment takes around 30 minutes and involves using a very fine needle to inject the product directly into the lower layers of the skin. A topical or local anesthetic can be provided to minimize discomfort, if needed.
The number of necessary injections depends on many factors. On average, three injection sessions are needed over a period of a few months. It is important to return for all treatment sessions as instructed in order to get the maximum effect from the gradual process of collagen replacement.
Following your treatments, you can expect to see a more natural, younger-looking appearance that can last up to two years. Sculptra will not correct the underlying cause of the facial fat loss, but it will help improve the appearance by increasing skin thickness in the treated area.
Immediately following a treatment session, redness, pain, bruising or all of these signs can happen in the treatment area. These signs usually go away in a few hours to a few days. Patients should also avoid excessive sunlight, and use an ice pack to help to reduce common swelling.
