Dr. Amy Kim joined MetroDerm in 2005 and became a partner of the practice in 2008. Her expertise lies in skin cancer management and Mohs micrographic surgery. Dr. Kim also practices general dermatology, cosmetic dermatology, and phlebology. She works with patients in our Atlanta/Sandy Springs and Hiram offices.
Dr. Kim grew up in Swainsboro, GA. She earned her undergraduate degree in 1994 and medical degree in 1998 through the Boston University Seven-Year Combined Medical School Program. While in medical school, Dr. Kim was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha nationa medical honors society. She completed her internal medicine internship in 1999 at Barnes Jewish Hospital of Washington University in St. Louis, MO. In 2003, Dr. Kim completed a four-year research fellowship and dermatology residency at Emory University, where she was chief resident of the program.
In 2005, Dr. Kim completed a two-year fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery and cosmetic reconstruction, cutaneous oncology and melanoma, cosmetic surgery, and laser surgery at the University of Michigan. During her dermatology residency and Mohs fellowship, Dr. Kim authored multiple publications in peer-reviewed medical journals and made presentations at the national meetings of the American Academy of Dermatology and Society of Investigative
Since joining MetroDerm, Dr. Kim has volunteered her time in the community at multiple skin cancer screenings with the Skin Cancer Foundation, American Academy of Dermatology, and Women’s Dermatologic Society. She has also appeared on several local media outlets as an expert on skin cancer. Additionally, Dr. Kim serves as a volunteer clinical instructor with the Emory University Department of Dermatology, where she teaches residents in dermatology and dermatologic surgery.
Dr. Kim is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, a Fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery, and a Fellow of the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery. She holds memberships with the Skin Cancer Foundation, Women’s Dermatologic Society, and the Atlanta Association of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery.
