ABBIE DEGESYS, M.D. JOINS THE METRODERM TEAM
We are pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Abbie Degesys to MetroDerm. Dr. Degesys is a Mohs surgeon as well as a general dermatologist who will be seeing patients at our Johnson Ferry and Hiram/Paulding offices.
An Atlanta native, Dr. Degesys is a Vanderbilt and UNC-Chapel Hill trained dermatologist specializing in both general dermatology as well as Mohs micrographic surgery.
The Mohs College Difference
While any board-certified dermatologist may perform Mohs surgery, only members of the American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS) have undergone rigorous fellowship training. Chosen through an extremely competitive review and selection process; fellows are required to complete an intensive 1 or 2-year post-residency ACMS fellowship training program.
The American College of Mohs Surgery was founded in 1967 by Dr. Frederic E. Mohs who pioneered a highly specialized and precise technique that removes skin cancer in stages, one tissue layer at a time, resulting in minimal damage to the surrounding healthy tissue and the highest potential cure rate, at up to 99%. Dr. Mohs served as the first president of the college.
The organization has grown substantially over the years and now has over 1,200 members. Dr. Kim and Dr. Papadopoulos are both certified by the ACMS. If you are diagnosed with skin cancer and want to know if Mohs surgery would be best for your condition, you can be assured that these MetroDerm Mohs surgeons will provide you with superior treatment.
